Actually, Cagney used "see" at the end of sentences quite a bit, too, as did many people back in the 20's, 30's, and 40's. It was a popular colloquialism at the time. It's just that Eddie Robinson was made famous for it by comedians and impersonators, particularly after his role as Rico in the film "Little Caesar."
