Speaking as an Englishman, I think it's mainly dicks that are still measured in inches nowadays, isn't it? I understand Americans are still unsuccessful in escaping their Imperial past even though we Brits have been dragged kicking and screaming into the illogical world of metrication -- how is it for you Aussies, Squeeky?

I grew up with Imperial measures and Pounds, Shillings and Pence, but being of a scientific bent I became bilingual in Imperial/Metric while PM Harold Wilson forced us all into decimal currency.

Hey.... We americans are stuck to old traditions, yes, but we can also convert. I know that 1kilogram is 2.2 lbs. I know there are 1.06 quarts in a liter. 1.61 kilometers in a mile. 1.09 yards in a meter. I know that these statements are just a FRACTION off because I rounded them down to the 100th decimal point.

As to the boat, well... I was stuck in the thought of marlin=fish for a bit, too, but after a bit I figured that marlins do not have 250kg engines, so there must be a boat by that name, as well.

I hope they do something to alleviate your pain without drugging you into a stupor. My biggest complaint with the health care I get (TriCare - promised free medical for life when I retired. My free care now eats into my pension... Ohm - Ohm) is all to often they drug the symptom, rather that treat the cause.

My uncle was a pain killer addict. Started out for his back pain and ended up with him not being able to function a day without them. He paid people to get the drugs from their doctor when his own refused to give him more that his weekly regular doze. I am not going down that road. Ever.
