Dee, you're certainly not bothering us. This part of the lagoon is open to all kinds of discussion. Personally, I'd like to know what happened to the kid who accosted you in your sleep.

I'm always happy to return a little help on your behalf. The Lagoon is always in your debt.

Okay so upon Shark's recomendation, i will share all my situations and occasions with Michelle, Gina's younger brother.
To help you understand the case, i'll give detailed information. Michelle is Gina's step brother from the father side, so it's kind of complicated and any small matter could lead to a big problem.
About a year ago Gina and myself had tons of seminars and projects to finish, so we had to spend a lot of time together. Mostly, i went to her place because it's more comfortable so each and every friday night we'd be together working.
Michelle has always been so nice to me, too nice that it was weird. His greetings, chats, touches and even jokes. It all started when once he was asking for an advice from me and Gina about a girl he lhad a crush on, after telling us her name we laughed because she was a girl our age and she was the bustiest girl in our class or even the whole school so we made fun of his choice and moved on. Later that night he once came to my room with a funny question about bra sizes, as he didn't get the measures. I started explaining but he understood nothing, he kept repeating the questions so i had to explain with one of my own. I got out a bra from my bag as i wasn't wearing any and showed him the difference between regulars, sports and push-ups. I spoke honestly and openly as he's so much younger than me and no way i could feel embarassed. Then he suddenly started talking about my size while staring at my tank cleavage 'I had a 36 C cup size so he obviously could notice them' then he asked why do busty girls have back pain so i said that because the bigger the breasts the heavier they are, so he acted like a smart ass and asked how ,uch do mine weight. I laughed and this moment i decided to end the discussion and said 'Come back when you're old enough' as a joke. He got pissed and left, and ever since that night he never missed a chance to talk about breasts in general or my breasts. Surprisingly, i didn't mind, all i could think of is that he's young and he's just discovering the other sex.
I'll continue later :)

TheDee, my holiday break has ended and I see that you have embarked upon your 'tell-tale' adventures.

Thank you for putting your inhibitions aside, not for the sake of the eroticism that they contain but for an insight of thoughts into the "other side of the mirror" of a relationship/encounter.

Shark chided me about actions, etc, a little earlier. That was no bother. Without some grounding of the female psyche we cannot truly approach a game where we see the adventure through the eyes of a female. Ms DiTo indicated that Shark has made and effort, I feel "Whakarai" and "Under the Spotlights" went well towards that but, admittedly Raelee worked closely with Shark on those. For me, in "Castle Whispers", at times one was playing as Geraldine but being the knight at other times. Due to the script that was completely unavoidable.

Upon reflection of that last thought, it would seem to be difficult to write purely from a female focus.
Consider "Karyukai". Here we have a "heroine" (someone like Ahoroa - Whakarai) and the focus is upon her.
From the female perspective, was this an appropriate focus? Sure there were male 'turn-ons' but could females perceive it as written from their viewpoint?

I'd like to hear comment upon those thoughts .... but in keeping with TheDee's thoughts of games from the female perspective.

It's ok Squeeky, actually i'm glad because it's the first time i have the chance to tell those incidents. But i find it rather disappointing that there's no interaction, but anyway, to be honest the last game was the worst i've played since i discovered the lagoon. Perfectly engineered/created in terms of design. But the story was terrible!! I actualy thought the total opposite because that traveling topic is so familiar and rich, but sadly it wasn't.
Too bad, speaking of which, your most erotic female topics were 'Campus, the love triangle' but was ruined by the threesome, 'Jungle call & Another late night, taking advantage', stories are becoming too Clichées!! I can't believe men are turned on by such poor situations!
Of course, of course, of course no offense intended to the team, just a criticism from a disappointed customer :)

Dee,
The very first AIF I ever played was presented in the female perspective. "Emily Discovers Life". I liked and started playing others. I really enjoyed reading your thread, so I'll be cheering you on from the side lines.

Edit* But you are right, can't think of any that I thought were good besides "Emily".

Well i haven't come across this game, but glad you got my idea!
I don't know if you played the new game or not, but it's actually more considering than previous ones. I noticed many scenes were based on the idea of just 'Teen girls' not 'Sluts'. The fact that most games picture men as "Normal" persons who encounter sluts on regular basis is not so realistic, why not the other way around? Cheer's Shadow :*

They say women come from Venus and men from Mars for a reason. We men have certain predispositions concerning sex and erotism and women have others. I purposely said predispositions because we are not black and white but a buch of grey shades, some darker other lighter. But we have tendencies.
It just behaviorism. It sufices to look around. Men are more easily aroused with a simple glimpse at a bosom, a cleavage, a butt in yoga pants. Our sexual stimuli are easy and fast to poke. Women not so much. Of course they get aroused seing a man/woman that fits their sexual standards but those same standards are more refined. Men get aroused with boobs, point. Woman get aroused with a certain - for example - type of body structure.
Also, sex and emotions go hand-to-hand for women. Even if such emotions are short term (in the case of fooling around for example).
That is no surprise that councerning erotica/pornography women have a tendency to prefer erotica, a good plot, an emphasis on emotions and thoughts, the thrill of the anticipation of the act, the level of desire, and so on, where men do prefer more direct and visual stimuli. Men like to be pleasured and to move on, quick and fast. Women happen to have sexual arousing from all the rituals leading to the actual sex act. All the energy and emotion involved before, during and after sex is important to them. Not so much to men.

That said, it is but natural that it gets some reflection on all the erotica/pornography we see in books, comics, games, and movies.
Most of these works are made by men, and for men. In the last decade there has been an emerging market for female costumers but it is still a business/practice directed to men. So, unfortunately, we have products that fail to attend to female desires.
For all the games, be it flash, html, aif, etc, that I played, I can only remember 2 cases of games writen/produced by women and that would be Tlaero's and Ariane's. There might be more but that's what I've found so far. I think Ariane purposely produced a game for men. The protagonists are men and we can't figure what goes inside the women's minds at all. Tlaero had a good try with Life with Keeley, a story written by a woman, where the protagonist is a woman, and where tle plot is to follow a woman's desires. That is the sole example I have.
All other stories and games where a woman is the character are written by men and when I read/play them I have to make an effort to remember the character is a woman because the path and the actions are familiar to my masculine desires.

I am 100% in favor in directing erotica to both genders, equally, and with the sensivity that it should be done with the diferences between man/woman in mind.
What you should do is to write the script, the story, be the director. Only a woman, or a man that knows them really well, can make a product that targets the best the feminine public.

My hope is, and I wish to contribute to it, that there will be a more profound diversification of erotic games that don't follow the usual meet girl/chat with girl/do things to please girl/have sex games.
Chaotic failed when he tried to have a female/male choice for his games, since the path is very linear, the dialogues the same, and the results equal, wheiter you are a man or a woman. And it is a game that follows the sequence I said above.

No, there should be games directed for women with a woman as a protagonist, and for men with a man as a character. If a guy wants to play a female character then he should have the full experience of what a woman's type of desires are and the path she walks to fulfill them.

Hey Mortze. It's great to see you participating in the lagoon.

There's a range. Even if the game has a male protagonist and aims at male players, the females in the game can be written in a way that is appealing to (or at least not offensive to) female players. It's a balance, of course, since if the game doesn't appeal to the majority of the playing population (men), it won't be worth the months of effort that go into making it. I think LwK was on the edge of that line. I suspect people played it because it was a sequel to a game they liked. I don't think it would have gone as well if it had been my first game.

I guess you are right, Tlaero. But in my case, I really appreciate the "ethics" behind LwK.

I'm a male player and a bit pervert, so I usually like erotic and porn games full of sexual scenes, threesomes, cumshots and all the "usual suspects" of the genre.

But I'm concerned that many of those games show a very unpleasant image of women. In any average erotic game, the female charaters are always sexual bombshells with little neuronal activity and even less self-appreciation. The game is always written from the male point of view and, in the storyline, the player only needs a couple of witty lines, a few shots of tequila for her and an amusing date for having her riding his virtual penis.

I know they are only a games, but they usually show a very degrading image of women as mere sexual objects with inexistent personality whose only aim in this world is giving pleasure to males. And I wonder if this kind of game may cause a false impression of what the relations between men and women shpould be, especially if they are played by teenagers or men with little sexual experience.

So, I love a game like "Live with Kelly", which shows a real woman with real desieres and a marriage which actually works. This game was exciting because it could really happen in real world. When I played it, I really though it would be really cool having a wife like Kelly.

In short words: I think an average male player can really enjoy LwK. I did!

And so did I. That is not the point here. LwK was well written and fun to play imo because it had realism in a woman's life and desires, and a structure behind her wishes and actions. But go figure, it was written by a woman.
I don't know games written by men that come as close.
There could be arguments councerning Pusooy's or Goblinboy's. The former, I think, is an atempt but doesn't work so well because imo I think it is a man's fantasies tought in the female character's minds. The later has good structure councerning emotions and thoughts UNTIL the sex scenes, where the female characters turn into mindless objects at the mercy of the player.

There are games, writen by men, with masculine characters that might be enjoyable to women I agree. But it comes a part where the emptiness, the void of the female characters you seduce and sleep with become a bit degrading, or, at least, lacking structure. For example, you play a man and you dig a female character. You seduce her, go on date, etc etc, and have sex. Let's say you want to try anal (an easier choice for men than women for obvious reasons). Most games have the girl say ok, with or without a bit of choices chalenges FOR THE PLAYER. It all comes for the player to get access or not to her secret hole. But what about that female character's thoughts, her emotions? Is she scared? Why so? Has she tought about it before? Has she had some trials by herself? What if they try but it hurts so much she asks to stop, and then the game continues and you have to soften her, get her confortable, try a few games and toys first, relax her a lot, and then try again? Or you get to talk to a friend of hers to explain her what she has to do before even trying anal and get pleasure from it? This complexity adds material to the gaming and makes you feel imersed in it like it was real.
If the girls was confortable with anal at first you wouldn't need all this but we all know that's not the profile of the girls in most games. No, they are mostrly portrayed as void individuals which sole purpose is to satisfy a fast sexual desire from the protagonist.
And that sucks!
I'm a pervert too danigonz. I like that stuff too. But I do not think that it must be separated from your partner's motives in the game. Don't you want a girl that has her own fantasies (even if more inocent ones) and know about her thoughts? I know I do.

Mortze, I think we are basically agree in everything. It's probably my bad use of English the reason I couldn't explain myself better.

But in my message I also criticized the sexism of erotic game, full of female characters who lacks of personality, sensibility and intelligence, and are used only as sexual objects.

Thank you, Danigonz. It is definitely the case that one of my motivations for making these games the way I do is to provide something of a positive role model. I'm not conceited enough to think that I can change people's general perceptions of women, but I hope to have some, albeit small, effect. I am encouraged when a game with beach ball-sized breast women comes out and someone gives the feedback, "Why don't you make the women more realistic, like in Tlaero's games?" If my games put a little pressure on other game producers to put better characters in their games, then I've accomplished something higher order than popularity. That's very rewarding to me.

Of course, it's not just me that is responsible for this. Phreaky and my new artist (who is awesome and should really announce his role so I can say more about him...) play an important part as well.

I hate so much beach ball sized brasts. That is so unrealistic and painfull to watch.
You nail at giving women a good image in your games. It is almost like the game is about them and not the character. In the case of Christine's the character is even the one who's used.
They're all strong women, that changes the tune on this kind of games.
But...I think the real challenge would be to create a female character that is fragile, with a low self-esteem (like a lot of women and girls), and WITHOUT denigrate her, without just exploring her body (wich would, imo, be like an abuse for such an emotional and psychological fragile person). Making her gain strength, confidence, love of herself and her body, and indulge in her repressed sexuality, that would be hard to create but very enjoyable to follow.
