Ok so here's kinda of a comparison.

Image

Another image done in Lux, with the lux mesh lights and some tweaking both in Daz and then later in Lux Render itself. It rendered for about 40 minutes to an hour maybe. It could have been faster if I used the hybrid type of rendering, which uses the GPU as well. I could have left it to render for longer since it still is a bit noisy and grainy though.

Image

Now I couldn't use the same lights that I used for Lux Render since they don't show up in Daz, they're Lux lights, instead I put the uber enviroment mesh lights in the approximately the same position. It's just a quick scene if I played around and gave it a going-over it could have been a lot better, lighting can make or break a render.

Still it shows you what you get with some minimum lightning and environment setup with both options. You do pay long render times for the added realism, but you can do whatever you want while it renders in the background.

Very interesting.
If these pursuits (exposes of techniques) is to go on, may I suggest that anew topic be opened within Projects?
I'm sure that we'd have willing discussion of advices and shared experiences there.

Thanks a lot, Jeff ! I really appreciate the fact that you spent your time to answer me (who is nobody in the render technique), and the way you did it !! What do you think of Squeeky's proposal ? May be Tlaero has an opinion about that...

JeffGarcia - I must say I like the natural look of your models. When me and the lads make 3D models, the gals usually have dat ass, dat breasts, dat legs and so on.
You are in the realm of realism. This is how womanly curves really is and that makes the 3D work more interesting. Well done

It'd definitely be cool to have a discussion on lighting and rendering techniques in Projects. Though if you show those realism shots to Wolf you're going to cause him to want to use Lux and we'll NEVER get to play BEW... (-:

Do I sense a tone of irony? Wolf will get stuck up with 'perfection'?

My immediate thought was that LUX render would not be compatible with AC. Oh! The shame of it all!

LuxRender creates .png images as a result of it's renders (it can also output other 'dynamic range' formats) so no reason to fear it'd not be compatible with AC - assuming Tlaero doesn't modify things to only accept jpegs ... :)

Well, unfortunately the main con of LuxRender, or any other unbiased render is the amount of time it takes to render. Because, to my understanding it simulates how light sources shoot light and then calculates all deflections and bounces to create an image. Unlike 3Delight you don't get an area of an image rendered and then another. You get the whole image very grainy, and then with hours it starts clearing up.

So, creating a game with tons of pictures, especially with numerous models and complex scenes could take some time. There is the option of slg rendering, basically using just your GPU to render a scene, however all the textures need to be stored on your GPU, and some materials aren't yet supported. You'd need to have a decent graphics card, though I've learned Radeon is apparently the best and actually older GeForce models, my GeForce760 even though newer is worse than older models, has something to do with the cores and all. I'm not sure.

So SLG is a hit and miss, you'll get lots of errors and you'll need to work things out. It won't look like the complex render, but it can deliver adequate results in seconds I believe. I think I saw a video of a SLG render where the average speed was a million samples per second, while the normal way on my machine depending on a scene is between 30-50 000 per second.

Basically unbiased renders are great for artwork, realistic images, but unless you have really strong rigs or you're willing to let renders go at it for hours, it's not the best for creating tons of images.

Anyways here's a render that I let render for a long time, but it's still grainy, then I played with the define brush tool, so now some areas are better quality than others. It just shows there is some learning curve when trying anything new.

Don't know how many of you who have played Skyrim. Been doing some comic ideas using different mods.
This is my story about teen dovahkiin and her adolescent approach to saving the world. I created her using
an improved character editor mod for the game. This is silly humor^^

- I hate this. Babysitting this spoiled brat.
- Looking at her while she bathe.
- Looking at her moist skin.
- Looking at the water running down her perky delicious breasts.
- Looking at her washing her young tight body.
- Seeing her snake around in the water as she moves her hands over those mouthwatering legs.
- Looking at how she...

Also Lydia is taking a reluctant interest in the little spoiled teen tramp :roi:

Posed my custom Skyrim protagonist in game and had an orgy with Gimp and Photoshop afterwards.

And some Skyrim tavern life.

Nice! The tavern strip is well up to the standard I've come to expect from you and the upper pose is good -- the only reservation I have about that upper one is the strange white artifacts like hairline scratches and dust marks on a photo
