I hated the military until I finally started fixing aircraft (34 weeks of basic and tech school. Avionics Instrument Systems Specialist). I found I was pretty good at it and got a lot of job satisfaction.
I worked every Air Force F4 model ever produced (C, D, E. RF, and G). I worked one modified model (F4E with the gun removed and green bottles in its place; a testbed Phantom stationed in Nevada), a few Navy and Marine models too. All of those, like me, are old, antiquated, and retired .
If your Mate felt/feels about his career as I did, he enjoys going to work every day.

A few things have changed over the years... When this forum was started there were very few sites with this underlying theme, today the number approaches FaceBook enrollment.
Shark has aged somewhat, and I suspect real life priorities have impacted his involvement. I'll wager yours too!
