Hi!

The increasing number of spammers and abusers of forum rules led me to an idea.

Isn't it possible to prevent pilot fishes from issuing new topics?
Honestly I'm full up of first posts that only contain sh*t!

Thanks!

Agreed. Somewhere someone even suggested some form of "initiation" like a game/checklist before registration could be completed. That may seem a bit arduous but for those genuinely wanting to become part of the community that doesn't seem to be a huge price, and that part of registration need not be too tedious.

Unless someone finds that post first, I'll endeavour to hunt it out.

Unfortunately, aceboard forum doesn't supply any of your ideas. The only solution will be to migrate the forum to another provider, but Shark isn't very enthusiastic (see this thread : http://sharks-lagoon.aceboard.fr/215394 ... h-sfd2.htm )

here the message that the newbies receive at the time of their regitration:

"Welcome in the lagoon forum. Thank you to read the forum rules . Before you open a new topic, check that a similar topic do not exist already..."

It can be improved if you have ideas

With all respect, Shark, having a so basic (for being nice) search feature (it only searches for subjects, not for the texts of the posts) in the forum, you're not expecting anyone to read all the posts for seeing if "something similar" was (or wasn't) already treated. So I don't use it.

Nevertheless in this particular case, I apologize for not having done the search, not for not having read the rules, which I did in due time when I was a newby.

Cheers!

I do not want to hurt anybody but here my thought:

All the newbies are not spasmers.

the lagoon must it to become an private area, protected from "tourists" who come to bother "natives" by submitting a game they already know ?

I don't like the barbed wires.

The forum starts to be famous and some people use it to make advertising for their web-sites...we are enough intelligent to visit only the links which interest us.
I try to watch the abuses and much spasmers are banished... but let us pay attention not to be exceeded by sectarianism...

I just read "Arabish Sex Game (Very Good)" by antibiy0tiq, 6 replies! SIX!

Shark, Trucla, & Slipstone ignore spammers. They will go away. If you (and everybody else) will ignore these posts, they will quickly get pushed to the bottom of the board.

And when the spammer (ie attention whore) doesn't get any attention, he will go away. Problem solved, and nobody has to do anything.

Please don't take offense, I mean no disrespect to any of you, merely offering solution that has proven to work in other forums.

Can an admin change a "topic" icon? There is a "thumbs down" icon. If an admin could change the "topic" icon to the "thumbs down" icon, this could be a signal to all "good" Lagooners, to ignore the post.

Then the spammer won't even get many "views", which will serve to run him off even quicker!

And don't forget that the biggest producer of spyware has the initials MS!
