But seriously: it seems to be a criminal act to show posters "Protect the great white shark", but it is not a criminal act to exterminate this species. Curious world this, we have build out there, isn't it ...?

I had the good luck of seeing a great white in South Africa four years ago in Gaans Baai.
Anybody heard of Shark Alley?

That is a relativly short stretch of ocean (appr. 1-2 miles) passing between two rocky islands just off the shore of the town of Gaans Baai. There you can find the largest concentration of great white sharks (30-40 great whites at any time). They congregate there because of the seals raising their young on these two rocky islands. Therefore it is an ideal spot for cage diving and watching these magnificent creatures.

You get a lot of respect for these magnificent animals once you see them passing within two or three feet from your cage. A four meter great white even tried a test bite into the lower corner of my cage (rather it was more something like a test nibble) but obviously it didn't like the taste of metal.

Just ab-so-lute-ly bloody amazing.

No, these sharks are not fed there but they are attracted to the cage diving boats with a mixture called chum (fish intestines and blood). They do not get fed so that they do not associate humans with food.

So, yes, we should have Jessica Alba plastering several roads with these posters.

Actually I had been looking for celebrity tongues and found this one and I chose it on a spur of the moment decision. Nothing special about it, just pure chance.

Copy the link, then paste it + refresh? That worked for me. (I copied it to IE and it worked, but pasting it into Firefox wouldn't until I hit Control F5)
