How I got my screenname...

A quiet place at the lagoon side for speaking about all and nothing (the financial crisis, sex, your country, sex, hobbies, or...sex)

One of my anglophone friend gave me this nickname one day. Maybe he had trouble saying my first name (Gilbert, in french)? From that day on it stuck and some of my other friends started calling me same. I then used it on different occasion on the net and in correspondance.

How did you select your pseudonym?

:D A few years ago I was making a lot of ceramics so the name 'pottybob' was suggested as sufficiently ambiguous

Well... first of all Luca is my real name (same as Luc in french and Luke in English);
Once upon a time there was no Prince Charming, but a rather chubby boy; his friends used to call him "Butu", that in Italian means nothing but recalls something looking like a wooden barrel of wine.
That boy grew up, and so he adopted that infamous nickname and gave it a touch of Englishness: Butu in Italian sounds like "Boothoo", and so he got it distorted into "Boo-Two" >> "Boo2"!

Funny thread
My pseudo comes from my logo I drew one day when I was at the college, during a boring lesson.
I also lived in French Polynesia (Tahiti) and I like lagoons, islands, beaches ,sharks (and of course native girls)...

The name with the annex "the Giant" was primarily used by my little brother as warrior-name, when he was playing basketball for two or three seasons in the highscool. After years I remembered on the one side this name, because it was very unusual and therefore suitable for an internet nickname, which normally is free,so it has not to be combined with numbers (such as "Jo523"). And my faible for "giant" in plain German : "Gigant" has to do with the poet Christian Morgenstern and the genial translations of his poems by May Knight, as I wrote in another thread:
Anto-logy

Of yore, on earth was dominant
the biggest mammal: the Gig-ant.

("Gig" is a numeral so vast,
it's been extinct for ages past.)

But off, like smoke that vastness flew.
Time did abound, and numbers too,

until one day a tiny thing,
the Tweleph-ant, was chosen king.

Where is he now? Where is his throne?
In the museum pales his bone.

True, Mother Nature gave with grace
the Eleph-ant us in his place,

but, woe, that shooting anthropoid
called "Man", in quest for tusks destroyed

him ere he could degenerate,
by stages, to an Ten-ant's state.

O noble club, SPCA,
don't let Man wholly take away

the steps of that titanic scale
that leads still farther down the trail.

How greatful will the Ant survive
if left to flourish and to thrive,

until he, in a far-off year,
as Zero-ant will disappear

I got the name rooster when I was 5. The reason behind it was that me and my brother thought it would be fun to play with a bucket of tar. Well I thought it would be fun to tar the chickens. Well dad was not real happy about the tared chickens, but grandad thought it was pretty funny and gave me the name rooster. tr is the initials of my first and last name.

LOL when I read about TAR and CHICKENS I suddenly thought about the Far-West penalty for card cheaters: covered with warm and sticky tar and then in white feathers...
Fortunately it was not that way about you!!! :D
