I've grown curious. I know there are a number of variations on the theme of strip poker and, having tried several of them, I know that some are A LOT better than others.

I'd like to get a feel for what's available, either free or paid, and what's best.

So far, I like strip poker exclusive 4

http://www.erotic-poker.eu/en/download.html

for general feel of play and response. I've only got the demo version so far, so I can't say too much about appearance of the models, but I like the fact that the opponent doesn't buy back clothes as soon as she has the funds like some other games. Instead, she waits for YOU to go broke before she buys her last clothing item back from you. This avoids a lot of game interruptions as she's takin' it off and puttin' it back on. I also like the fact that the opponent can take the offensive, instead of just following your lead on whether to bet or not. Finally, I like the fact that you can choose from 5-card draw, Texas Hold-em, or Omaha Hold-em.

I've heard rumors that Torquemada (sp?) also has a good game, but haven't yet tried it. I'd like to know what other players think.

Digital Strip Poker with Neriah Davis see
http://sharks-lagoon.aceboard.fr/forum2 ... gin=215394

has a lot of video interruptions, but they're relatively brief. Opponent can take offensive and/or make a convincing bluff. She also sports a pretty fantastic RACK!

It was tough to figure out the hand rankings, though - game seems to give some credit for hands that it called "inside straight". As far as I could tell, this ranking was assigned to hands that I (and every other program I'm familiar with) would call a FAILED straight (of ZERO value!)

Torquemada's (basic - they also offer a "supreme" version) offering has a couple of items, including suggestions about which cards to discard, that make it a little more interesting than some, but it also has some drawbacks.

I played the demo version, so, again, I can't say much about the roster of models.

I'm not too fond of the opponent getting paid by the BANK for stripping - seems to me that I, as the beneficiary, should be paying for it.

Also, while I understand that it would be TOUGH to set up a program with multilingual speech, it's NOT MUCH FUN to play against a silent opponent.

Finally, for all the bells and whistles (optional window skins, animations, etc., etc.) it's a bit of a let-down to only be able to play five-card draw.

Torquemada's SUPREME offering is MUCH better! Yet again, I can only speak about the demo version, but this time SHE TALKS! It's mostly just filler gab, but it's significantly better than the silent treatment.

In the supreme version, they've also added the options to buy her a drink or to pay the bank(?) for a peek beyond her current state of undress. I couldn't tell if her drinking affected her play, but I like the fact that the prices of these little options vary in a fashion that kinda makes sense.

The game is still limited to 5-card draw, and she still gets paid by the BANK for takin' off her clothes, but this one is a lot more fun to play.

Active strip poker by Harem Games(?)

http://www.haremgames.com/games/games.asp

is pretty bad. It's one of a number of simple games where you don't actually play against an opponent, so there's no strategy of trying to figure out what your opponent may be holding. I THINK they're generally referred to as 'Jacks or better' games. I find them pretty boring unless the models are REALLY SPECTACULAR. That ain't the case here.

Rebel strip poker

http://www.rebel-poker.com/software.php (requires registration, but the registration seems pretty benign)

is sort of an interesting twist. I BELIEVE it was an early entrant in the race to introduce video feedback in strip poker. It's a little bit primitive, but kinda fun. In the demo, your opponent is FULLY DRESSED at the start, and when she first runs out of funds, the first thing she sells you is her hair scrunchy. It's a little bit amusing in that it sort of feels like you're playing a real-life game, but it necessarily involves a lot of dressing up and down as you work your way down to getting her naked.

Unfortunately, this game also has it's drawbacks. The opponent is completely passive - never opens the betting or significantly bumps the pot. In addition, at least as far as I was able to figure out, it appears that the video display is very small.

U-play, I-Strip

uplay-istrip.com/sexy-strip-poker.html

is another interesting variation on the theme. This one offers up to FOUR opponents at a time, and it's based on Texas Hold-em. This changes the feel of the game radically.

This may be one of the first to offer play against more than one opponent, but I HOPE the genre will show SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT over the next little while. This particular game leaves a lot to be desired.

With several opponents, the game TRIES to give a sense of what is happening with each at each move in the game, What it winds up with is a fairly confusing sequence of knocks, nods, and signals from each opponent. I found that, in trying to keep track of what was going on in the display, I continually lost track of the game progress to the point that I was never sure when it was my turn to bet.

In addition, beyond being silent (after introducing themselves), I found it a little bit disappointing that the opponents not only appear to be in different rooms, they don't even PRETEND to be holding cards!

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for version 2 of this one - I think they've taken on an entertaining task, but I HOPE they'll do a lot better on it the next time around.

Video Strip Poker with Misty (and several others)

http://sharks-lagoon.aceboard.fr/forum2 ... gin=215394

Oy - what to say? I found this one to be BAD! The accompanying video was pretty repetetive. In addition, the game play - aside from being limited to 5-card draw - seemed somehow uneven, or disjointed. Once I got her down to zero funds, the video seemed to take off on its own - with no apparent connection to what was happening in the game - and her bankroll SEEMED to just change at random, although there may have been SOME tie-in with the video that was less than apparent.

Finally, I found it rather irritating that the game could only display 5 cards at a time, so when the betting was done and somebody had called, MY cards had to disappear before HER hand could be shown!

Video Strip Poker 2 with Ambra, Aria, Avery, Briana, etc., etc.

http://forumophilia.com/topic24381-105.html (scroll down to the middle of the page for links)

More of the same - I couldn't stand it long enough to play more than one opponent, and Aria didn't seem to understand that she was supposed to TAKE HER CLOTHES OFF to get more money!

EXCEEDINGLY annoying!

Digital Strip Poker with Carrie Stevens, Layla Roberts, and Kelly Monaco(?) see

http://sharks-lagoon.aceboard.fr/forum2 ... gin=215394

Same game as with Neriah Davis (above). There are a couple more problems with this game that I was willing to overlook when playing against Neriah.

First off, these games are a HUGE PAIN to download (2 parts, each over depositfiles limit for free consecutive downloads) and decompress (requires THREE separate extraction runs, at least when using WinRAR on XP).

Second, during play, there are some times when you can discard four cards and sometimes when you can only discard three - I haven't been able to figure out any pattern to it, so I find it annoying.

Finally, the question of hand rankings came up again. There were a couple of hands where I thought I had won, but the opponent claimed the pot. I couldn't get a screen shot while both hands were displayed, so I couldn't actually double-check who had what. It doesn't have to happen too often to take a lot of the fun out of the game (unless you're playing against Neriah - swoon!)

In this package, I haven't tried all three models, but the one I DID play against was a little less congenial than Neriah and the video was pretty low contrast - seemed washed out. Besides, she was playing in front of a not-very-convincing beach backdrop

The All Star Strip Poker series is my favourite, though it's the only full version SP game I have, so maybe I'm biased. Can't really comment on the game mechanics themselves since I'm not much of a player, but it's never a total cakewalk.

The opponents are what sell this game though. I've got two games - Girls at Work and Girls Next Door. I tend to prefer the former:

http://www.allstarstrippoker.com/girlsatwork/en_screenshots/

Among the opponents are Czech pornstar Veronica Vanoza and adult model Vanessa Cooper. The videos are nice and hi-res, and there are plenty of sexy idle animations. And all of them are in some sort of uniform or the other - very hot. There's dialog quite often, but unfortunately my version has been dubbed in German, so I have to guess what they're saying most of the time. Not that it affects gameplay.

As for the other one:

http://www.allstarstrippoker.com/door/de/bio.html

Basically the same as GaW, but the opponents aren't quite as good. However, one girl (Katty) has quite a few bonus videos you can win even after you get her naked, so that's a plus. And the fact that one of your opponents is a pair of girls is also a cool twist.

Real Girls Strip Poker

http://www.realgirlspoker.com/rgsp/screenshots.html

I think they've stopped selling this game - maybe you could find it at some abandonware site, I'm not sure. It's pretty old, and therefore somewhat primitive looking. Graphics are understandably grainy, but the girls themselves are quite appealing. On the plus side, they give off quite a bit of dialog, which gives the game more character. Also, you can play against two of them at the same time, making play more interesting than usual. Oh, it takes quite a while to come out on top here, so patience is key. Unless you're a better card player than me. Which is not saying much.

Oh, and it's been years since I played it, but I think I remember the player being able to grope them, kiss them and ask them to have a drink. Of course, they don't show you doing any of that, they only show the girls' reactions to your actions. Still, that was quite fun.

Strip Blackjack with Katie Fey

stripblackjackdoc.com

This game presents one model in three different outfits to start the game. She's fairly hot, but the "video" (actually a sort of stop-motion series of photographs which sort of slide from one to the next) is a little disappointing.

Beyond that, the game-play was not particularly rivetting. After a while, it became sort of laborious and repetitive to work through hand after hand. Part of that is just the nature of blackjack, but in this presentation, there are a couple of aggravating factors.

For one thing, the card movement is pretty slow. It seems like the developer was particularly interested in showing off the BACKS of his cards, so every card that is dealt from the pack comes out, not particularly quickly, and ALWAYS facedown. Then you [no]get[/no] HAVE to watch as it's turned faceup.

I say HAVE to, because there is, frankly, no choice. The buttons that allow you to either stand or take another card DO NOT APPEAR until AFTER the card has been turned over.

Finally, at least in the version I played (from the link above) there was a repeated pop-up screen asking whether I'd like to play for real money every few minutes. This was mildly annoying just on its own, but to make matters worse, there was ONE big button on this little pop-up screen marked something like "YES, I'D LIKE TO WIN" Down below this big button, there was, in small type and in a color with very little contrast to the background,a link marked something on the order of "no thanks"

Overall, it's a little better than some, but I won't be goin' back.

Oh yeah, If you happen to play this game, be aware that there are TWO different selections available to move on to the new hand. If you want to CHANGE your bet from the last hand, hit the "clear" button. This allows (requires?) you to place a new opening bet. If you just want to bet the same amount this hand as you did last hand, use the "RESET" button. It is SIGNIFICANTLY faster.

The first time I have read you reviews, thank you very much for the time and effort put in to these. I think like many people, we are looking for that one great combintation of beautiful girls, interactive play, and a good AI to play against.

It's been a while, but I stumbled across a new one:

holdemstripem.com has a version of Texas hold'em.

It's SLOW - they're so proud of their animations (there are cards and chips sliding all over the place and a virtuagirl wiggling down in the corner) that the game is tediously, hugely, MURDEROUSLY slow.

The feel of the game is more or less realistic, but the one girl I played against (Viki), although she was quite good-looking, was not a very good player. In addition, you can't see most of the opponent's state of undress unless you move your mouse around, which I wasn't inclined to do because it introduced MORE mind-numbingly slow camera pans.

Finally, the betting choices are pretty stupidly limited. There's no way to adjust how much you want to raise by, and you can't do ANYTHING until the program is quite finished showing you the latest animation sequence.

Overall, I have to say that this one is NOT worth bothering with unless/until they change things to pick up the pace.
