[quote="PinkVendeta"]Had some spare time so watched 2 movies, both are worth a watch.

Lucy (2014)
This was actually a good movie, with a great ending , I shall say no more than that :D

I saw Lucy a while back. Interesting movie. It's a little weird and out there with the concept of man's mind can defy laws of science if allowed to develop sufficiently. But it's sci-fi; so reality need not apply. It's worth a watch.

I have many favourites of his (which is why I own so many of his works <smile>) so it's hard to pick just one, and which I would pick would depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

But if I had to pick (right now) some films for someone new to his works to choose from then I would suggest the following four:
"The Castle of Cagliostro" (his first 'film' (not first animation) and where it all began)
"Kiki's Delivery Service"
"Spirited Away"
"Howl's Moving Castle"

My wife and I finally got a chance to see "The Castle of Cagliostro". We enjoyed it a lot and look forward to seeing more. Thank you Greyelf and Hannah for the suggestions.

Saw "Castle in the Sky". A lot of ways it reminded me of "The Castle of Cagliostro" such as the mail character being a cocky adventure type and the girl being the soft spoken princess. Both had a castle destroyed. But, it was enjoyable none the less.

Next on the list is "Kiki's Delivery Service". What I watch will depend on whether it's readily available online.

By the way, I mentioned Ghibli Studio to my daughter. Right off the bat she recommended the other three on Greyelf's list with no knowledge of it. Nice to know she endorses his recommendations.

Another book set I've read but not watched. Mind you I do have series 1 stored on my NAS ready to look at.

"The Rookie" has Nathan Fillion in it doesn't it? He was okay in "Castle" but give me Stana Katic over him any day, particularly after the way ABC crashed and burned "Castle". That reminds me, I haven't finished watching Katic in the first series of "Absentia", or the first series of MilMar's post "Castle" production "Take Two". Both seem pretty good from what I've viewed so far.

A Discovery of Witches is very good, just finished watching the first season, well worth a watch.

Nathan Fillion is in The Rookie, it is good, but, You know it would never happen for someone his age, but once You forget that, worth watching.

I watched a few episodes from different seasons of American Horror Story and never really got into it at all, so I went back and over time watched the first 5 seasons of it, and have to say, I am very impressed by it.

Each season is a totally new story line beginning to end of the season and has nothing to do with the season that came before it, some of the actors carry over into the new seasons and some dont and new actors are added into each new season.

It is best described as an anthology series centering on different characters and locations, including a house with a murderous past, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, a hotel, a possessed farmhouse, a cult, and the apocalypse.

I would recommend it to anyone, the acting is VERY good in every season and well worth a watch.

hi

the times stamps on post here are weird...

like you cant tell when a post was made, just the day and month.. but no year

you could be reading a 10 year old thread and think its from yesterday

edit: just realized that the year is put in front... lol

You can configure the date format you see when viewing posts, via the my date format option found on the board preferences tab of the User Control Panel, whose link is found in the bottom left corner of the top navigation bar of this site.

notes:
The YYYY-MM-DD (year-month-day) format is commonly used by developers when they want dates that can be easily sorted numerically.
It is also sometimes used to get around the confusion between the US date format of MM/DD/YYYY (month/day/year) and the format used by a large percentage of the world DD/MM/YYYY (day/month/year)

eg. is 04/11/2018
a. the 4th of November 2018 (the large majority)
b. the 11th of April 2018 (basically US-only)

My personal date format is dd mmm year time.
The Military did that to me but it removes all confusion.
09 Dec 2018 16:23
See what I mean? Little doubt left.
When Minecrafting I use 2018 Dec 09 16:23
It makes it easy to sort by date.
