Let me see what I can do for you. WIll add a spoiler below once I have found a solution for your problem.

You should have an event on the roof at midnight.
This should in turn unlock other events.
If you have completed the tome research you should also have an event in the basement hallway in the late evening. (This might not be unlocked. Depends on steps I can't see from the number. But likely.)

There is a specific event that could move stuff forward for you.
In the very late evening there should be an event in the restaurant that unlocks a path.

That is not a theme I have aimed to include as most of the games are centered around 1 main guy and there aren't a lot of other males involved in the story. There are 1 or 2 sidestories that could be said to contain some of that, but not enough to add it as a theme.

I have a problem.

I wake up with 5 or 7 energy, and after I eat breakfast it is 7 or 9, but when I try and cleanup the restaurant it says I don't have enough energy. I can get to 11 after eating lunch, and that seems to be enough, but then it says I don't have enough time. So I somehow need to get to 11 energy before lunch. I can't figure out how.

I should be able to help with that.
There are two other ways you can increase your energy.
Train in the fitness area.
Get a better bed (room upgrade)

Both of these might require that you do other paths before you can continue with the cleaning.
But you are on the right track with eating/showering in the morning to get to 10.

Working out always reduces my energy. I have the upgraded bed.

Ahh a little misunderstanding.

You will get a higher base energy efter working out a set number of times. You get in better shape.
