well im glad to see many people now commented and i hope at least 2-3 people wrote some events!

this game could be HUUUUGEEE... and to be honest i really havent seen anything like this..

about the game being confusing, its just a matter of playing some more till u get the jist of it... HH2 might be simpler, but it is also less rewarding.

is it just me or does this game take hours upon hours to get anything done?

This game will take time, you will need to work out your strategy to get toward your goals. Coerce or convince the teacher and the PTA member to do what you want. Increase the fun factor and corruption in school, while keeping a good reputation and good academic result to avoid problem with the PTA.

Im curious about one thing, any one have been able to find the hidden street to get in to the nightclub. The one you get a clue about the 1st day of school when you go behind the school and listen to the student talking?

I used to play HH 2 for a little wile, and really welcome such an ambitious successor. The game certainly has a lot of potential.

However, after playing a couple of hours, I think the game really needs to become more accessible. Currently many parts of the game, such as the lockpicking interface and especially the school management screen are ugly and lack information about your actions and their results. It took me several tries to even figure out how to assign teachers to their classes, and am still unsure wether me assigning certain school policies actually has any effect.
The game seriously needs some layout work, more in-game explanations and more respnsponses to your actions (like a list of currently active rules and occasionally some message about their effects or something).
The event editor, while an exciting concept is even worse. The dozends of widgets are cluttered all over the whole small window, with hardly any meaningful grouping or explanations. How are new potential content contributors even supposed to understand the connection between events and event chains (I assume that's what they are, even though the game only ever talks about events)?

I understand that the game is still only in a beta phase, but leaving the interface till last is a good way for it to never get finished. And since you are are already looking for people to contribute new events, you really need to take some steps towards them. Unless you want the game to be a specialist affair only for those who followed the development process closely enough or dedicated enough to spend hours figuring out that editor (and as complicated as the event mechanism may be, the editor makes it many times more complicated, and needlessly so).

Right, sorry for the rant;I really like what this game is trying to do, and would love to make my own events, if the game would only let me...

This is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about, that and the fact that it seems you have to be in certain places at specific times. These are just coding tricks used to pad out otherwise simple games. There's no real skill involved, unless it consists of hacking the code or reading a walkthrough, it just comes down to dumb luck, so please just give it up.

As I've said before, more often it is a case of less is more. HHS has all the makings of a very good game but it would be even better if the developer spent less time fiddling with his variables and more on getting the interfaces right.

Totally agree with membrano's comments about the Editor too. The whole thing has the air of something that was done to show off the developers abilities. Yes. Well done. We've seen those - now can we have our game please?

There's nothing wrong with games involving a bit of luck. I remember playing the original years ago before joining the lagoon. The game does seem to be quite buggy though. Certain events can repeat, certain events don't seem to happen or happen not at the time promised. Possibly the worst one I came across was that every time an event happened in music club I ended up losing 500 of whatever money without having a choice about it and yet there was only 6 (the same 6) you got as a income as a result. This quickly bankrupts you. Eventually I had a cabaret but 100s of visits maybe led to a single event and no other pictures. You do need to strategise to a certain extent, targetting the right people, changing things gradually. However another thing really bugged me and that was that if the loyalty is a certain level repeatedly kissing (should only allow 1 a day) can gain 100 percent loyalty. Of course the loyalty can drop when really 100 loyalty should really have someone acting like a slave should you choose to. There should also be more teachers to choose from and maybe a couple of extra PTA people so each game you get 6 out of 8. Yes it's good that you can create your own events but some more bug testing is obviously needed.

PS I am not sure the developer is showing off - plenty of hard work but in my career (and I'm sure lots of other people's) I've done more impressive work than this. This is not a criticism but perhaps explaining motive. When I create game I hope it will seem complex but it is not to impress, merely to create a good game which takes work.

I don't think it is showing off either. Rather the author was/is trying to realize a vision of a perfect game that leaves as many freedom as possible, and had little patience left for all the details. The event editor and to some extend the school manager are pretty obviously just quickly thrown together with Visual Studio or Borland Builder or something like that.

I also agree that it is bad game design to require the player to be at specific places at specific times for no obvious reasons to advance in the game. But I think that is largely a matter of how the events are done. If they are reasonably easily accessible and guide the player (to some extend) to the next step, and provide some feedback about what is happening (another thing sorely lacking currently), I believe that it can work.

Yes - you said what I forgot to say - If there is a clue in the game (which you must be spoon-fed to make sure you find it before the time runs out) then the time/place thing is ok - although I still find them a little tiresome, after all aren't these supposed to be "open to exploration"? All credit to the author, he's (or she) has obviously put a great deal of thought and effort into this - possibly he's just over-reached? As I said before there is just not enough feedback to the player to let them know what's going on. Once you've found a contact it should be possible to contact them anytime to arrange a meeting. You should not have to keep turning up at a certain spot, hoping you've got the right time and missing other opportunities because you're hanging around somewhere.

The concept has so much promise that it is with very much regret that I find myself unable to even look at this game again.

I personally was excited to play a game like this but after spending an hour if not more with little happening, I got frustrated. This game would be a lot more fun if the events weren't coded into 2-3 hour slots, where you could only view them if you are in that location within the time slot. I have no problem with playing a game where I get rewarded through doing things, and this game takes a while before you can get to the good stuff, but the time slots really ruin it for me. Unless you read the code, or read the forums, there is no way you are ever going to know where to be at a given time to see the content.

I have played Hentai Highschool since its first release. HHS+ is the best version out so far.
From my point of view these are the pros and cons of HHS+

Pros:

- You can meet each individual student
- Events can be added
- You can visit each room

Cons:

- There are still very few events available
- The current money making mechanism is too slow to allow school improvement in short term
- Lack of instructions for newbies on how to summon students to your office, or on the results of yelling at and kissing someone, etc.

I wrote some events and added the needed pictures, in a post at the HHS+ forum. I hope someone who understands the event creation steps will eventually add them to the game, because what is still boring about this game is the amount of time we spend with nothing happening.

id like to say, for who ever thinks there are very little event's

its actually not true.

thinking reasonably (Which i love about this game) when the school is at 1-5 corruption and like 15 sex, you won't have many interesting event's because its a normal school and you are slowly making the transition, after the sex and corruption goes up you start spending time turning the PTA and tricking the police lady and so on and so on

im not saying its PACKED with events too, but its not very little as well.

We need the genius Goblinboy to write up the events and this game will be perfect..
where is Goblinboy... i miss him...

When you open the chem lab and return to your office you will be summoned to the police station.
As soon as you start creating and buying a specific drug it will go further.

As for the problem to find certain students.
Where are most students during their lunchbreak?
Most likely where there is food.

Where i can meet hardman and hooter?
i never meet them in town locations. And they are the only PTA memberes who refuse to vote and i cannot influence them as i never met them. Even when i lockpick their house they just see me and i lose reputation.
btw when detectice offers training - what skill do i increase? lockpick does'not improve - i checked.
