EDIT (30 OCT 2019): This is a cross-platform version of a previously released Windows only visual novel entitled "Something Strange".

System requirements: A web browser that is capable of playing HTML 5. This has been tested using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safdari and Opera on a PC running Windows 7. It should run on a MAC system using Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome, and on a Linux system using Firefox, Opera and Google Chrome browsers.

Uncompress the compressed file using 7zip, winzip, winrar, or your favorite archiver. You may install the game in any folder on your hard drive.
To run the game, open the index.html file in your browser.

Known issues:
1. There are screen size and save/load misalignment issues with Internet Explorer 11. While the game is playable, I recommend you use another browser.
2. On a Linux system using Chrome, you might get a blank black screen. This can be fixed by telling Chrome to allow the game to set local data.
3. Depending on your browser and browser settings, save game information may disappear when you close your browser.
4. One tester using a MAC computer reported that the game would NOT work properly using MAC OS X version 10.11.6 El Capitan, and Safari version 11.1.2. Other browsers worked.

Note: Rapidly clicking to skip dialog may cause the VN to crash, or skip visuals.

After several unsuccessful blind dates, while out walking a man stumbles upon a stray cat. There is more to the cat than is readily apparent. She has been put under a wizard's curse and during the full moon turns into a beautiful woman.
Can Ian and the cat break the curse? Will Ian's co-worker or his landlady's daughter be able to help?

This version contains the both the adult (sexually explicit) and teen ((partial nudity) versions.
The download is about 33 MB; playing time is over an hour to reach all four endings.

This is an interactive story. The ending you get depends on choices you make.

At another site someone said he couldn't find three of the endings. Spoiler follows.
To unlock three of the four endings, when given the choice, tell the cat to go away.

Shame! You're right about Linux -- Wine isn't up to handling everything Novelty does. I guess I'll have to fire up Windoze if I want to get further with the foreplay!

@fleet, have you considered trying Ren'Py instead of Novelty? By all accounts it has more bells and whistles and has the advantage that it isn't restricted to Windows only use -- it will work with Mac, Linux and Android too.

Greebo,
From my viewpoint, Novelty has three huge advantages over Ren'py,
Easy to use WYSIWYG visual novel editor.
Visual point & click programming with "Actions".
No actual programming required.

I already know how to use Novelty. I've written code before, and it's one of my least favorite activities.

Windows still owns close to 90 percent of the desktop computer operating system market.

Having said all that, there is a program called Belle (currently in the alpha stage of development) that using a WYSIWYG interface similar to Novelty. Belle doesn't have all of the features that Novelty has yet, but it produces games in HTML format. When Belle adds a feature to allow playing cut scenes (like Novelty currently supports), I'll more than likely switch to Belle.

I played around a bit with Tlaero's AdventureCreator and made a short demo (Carlo's Downfall) using it. I found Novelty easier for me to use.

Very respectfully,
fleet

francois323,
What video card does your computer have? If you are running Windows XP or higher, your computer probably already has DirectX 9c (or higher) on it.
You can tell what version of DirectX by clicking on Start, then Run, then type dxdiag into the box.

It's a built in card, so exotic that win xp doesn't recognize it, i didn't find a driver for it. I also paid a program to help win find updated drivers, so i got to install a PCI video card that accept dx9, but there's a 3d function that it refuse to work. it's not a bad install, every time i format & reinstall, always the same result. It's a 3d compatibility.

All the info i got it's :
- a Compaq box
- an obscure motherboard, definitively not a Compaq (to have rebuilt so many computer, i recognize a Compaq motherboard, but unemployed for now, i can't buy another one). The numbers on the chip lead nowhere. i realize i got a complete rebuilt motherboard. for example, the sound chip is a HP one, but not the video one.

Unfortunately this is true even of my computer (because of Microsoft's sales machinations, it is next to impossible to buy a PC without it unless you're prepared to pay more for the privilege), I hardly ever boot into M$'s freaking system though, unless I have no other option (like having to run Novelty!) because for the most part my install of Ubuntu with Gnome rather than Ubuntu's Unity crap is by far the superior OS and GUI.

However this doesn't mean you have to use applications that are nailed solidly to the good(?) ship M$ when there are perfectly good free ones that are multi-platform. Novelty hasn't had any updates or bug fixes for an extremely long time (possibly a reason why you have to specify DX9), whereas Ren'Py's most recent update was this month!

Hi Josefus

Not while they aren't available to download! Tlaero's Adventure Creator works fine though, unless I'm using Chrome without turning local cookies on

@Greebo,
Thank you for your suggestions. For the time being I'm not going to change the programs I use. At some time in the future, I may start using Belle, since it produces games in HTML 5 format. The draw back to Belle is that it requires Java to play, and currently doesn't seem to like IE8, IE 9, or Google Chrome. It seems to operate okay on Mozilla Firefox in Windows XP (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit). I have no clue how many Mac or Linux users use firefox, and since I don't have a computre with those OS I can't test.
Very respectfully,
fleet
