You need to install the most recent version of Adrift5, I had a similar problem a few months back. The Adrift 5.0 had quite a few faults and has taken several updates to fix some of the problems for both game creators and their audiences.

Best to download the most recent Adrift5 software from the Adrift website directly to be safe.

some good stuff, but i can't figure out the commands for after school special for the life of me, whenever i try pretty much anything i get "sorry i didn't understand that command" and it doesn't come with a readme...anybody make any progress with it?

Just type "readme" to display the readme and "waaah" to display hints at any time throughout the game.

Although he has been know to release a beefed up "director's cut" version a little while after with more pictures and in the case of Lost Horizon more content.
