The Elf and the Warrior is a kinetic novel. It is a story that has only one ending, and the reader is not given any choices that create different branches for the story.
There is no dialog in The Elf and the Warrior; I've tried to use only pictures, music and limited sounds to tell the tale.
The story is about a female elf whose pet is killed by a dragon. She seeks help from a warrior.

Since there is no game-play involved in this I chose to place it in this sub-forum, instead of the Sexy Games sub-forum.
I'd appreciate feedback and helpful suggestions.

Technical notes:
The compressed file (just under 17 MB) contains an exe file, which your anti-virus might give a false alert. Likewise, some browsers (Chrome) might tell you the file is malicious. It is not.

System requirements: Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7, and a video card or chip capable of running Directx9c.

If you encounter text truncation (Vista/Windows 7) reset the font in your preferences to the default.

If you get a message about needing a dll file, you can get it at http://www.toymaker.info/Games/html/d3dx_dlls.html

Terms of use:
By installing, you, the end user, agree to the following terms of this agreement:
The game author(s), expressly disclaim any warranty, expressed or implied, and accepts no responsibility for the quality or reliability of any of the games offered. They accept no responsibility for any damages to you, your computer, or any other property, person, or corporation which results, directly or indirectly, from the downloading of, installation of, compilation of, and use of the game.
You are not authorized to upload this game to any other site for sharing without specific permission from the mod author(s).

Uncompress the compressed file using 7zip, winzip, winrar, or your favorite archiver. You may install the game in any folder on your hard drive.
To run the game, run the elfwarrior2.exe file.

Click the left mouse button to advance the story. There are about 83 slides and six limited animation movies.

Added an alternate download link here and in the first post. (r*pidshare is being unkind with their download limit).

Replaced broken link. New link is in first post.

Kudos for effort, but work on light settings and most of all, animation.

@Rastifan,
I'm amazed that you would look at my work, much less comment. I'm still learning, I have a long way to go to reach your level (probably should forget that and stop making VNs now).
Very respectfully,
fleet

Why wouldn't I look at a beginners work. I remember when I did my first attempts at 3D poses. I was terrible.
But I also remember the pros who followed my development and gave me valuable advice. Often this is complicated since we work on different 3D platforms.
But essentially the general help applies

Ps! And never ever compare your self to others work. It might seem so far away to achieve what they do like I felt, but trust me! In a couple of years I surpassed quite a few
of my old heroes. It is all about how much time you invest in learning. Focus on what you do and let the really good artists inspire you in stead of seeing their work as a unachievable goal.

Clearly I should not have released this.

WHY !!! The pictures are nice, the story look good (even if i can't read it !!), but i can read and everything i read about your story is good, so give me one good reason to regret what you write !! Your picture has made so much progress, it deserve to be post. If anybody doesn't like it, so what, you don't forced them to read it !!

It's sure, a story is made to be read, BUT if you don't like what you wrote, there's no need to write it !!

Anyway, i can force you to decide, but if you choose to forfeit with one bad comment, it's your choice !! Even a big writer could make a bad story, but if he use the comment to write better story, there's no problems with them !!

In my point of view, you should continue to write your story !!

@jfrancois323,
Thanks for helping me re-evaluate.
I went back to the weeaboo site and read other reviews. The critic there doesn't give anything good reviews, even commercial games.
Haters are going to be haters, so I'll continue writing and making 3D art.
Besides, if I stopped, I'd never get better.

There's nothing wrong with a story told in images.

Learn from constructive criticism and ignore the pompous jerks. In this world there are creators, consumers, and critics. The critics think they're important, but most are worth less than pond scum. You're seriously better off not even reading them.

I do wish you'd use html for your stories instead of the executable, though. I'd read more of them if they were more accessible.

If you were making your stories in HTML, i will be able to read them too ( i got a crappy video card, that doesn't like the 3d rendering). I'm able to play tlaero stories (a big chance or i will have lose the pleasure to see their excellent stories). But because i got no programming talents, i don't know if it are more much difficult to do !! But for sure, it will get you to be see by more people !! If i was stopping on criticism, i will have stop reading Stephen King story after "La part des ténèbres" (sorry i read it in french) back in early 90s. It all a question of taste, you like or you dislike !!

You are the best critic, if you don't like a story, you can always make it better to attain the better level. If you try to make story for someone else, there's always someone unhappy, it's impossible to satisfy everyone !!

Continue on your great work !! (many people like them, the number of download and the fact that many people still ask you to re upload a link is a great way to know the quality of your story !

(wow, i just realize how long my message was !! )

From what I've seen of your offerings, if you are reasonably happy with what you provide, it'll be ample for the majority of consumers.
Just do what YOU are happy with and to hell with the nay sayers.
You do a good job IMO.
Don't let a few bring you down!

Nice (but too short) story, with some text and click situations it could have been 3 to 4 times longer.
Indeed some 'jumps' when the movies start a new loop.
I do like the girl, she has a nice face!

Keep up the good work...

@Felix,
Thanks for viewing The Elf and The Warrior. Her face is Dyald's Willow for Victoria 3. I am working on a new project, more in line with what I usually do (dialog, player choices to reach different endings). I will announce it and provide a link when it's ready (it is currently in Alpha testing).
