I usually do all right coming up with names for my characters, but I haven't picked a name for this one yet. Any suggestions?

I would go for Genvieve. She has a nice Western European, Mediterranean look to her (I would say she is from somewhere just outside of Nice, but that's... just me). And Genvieve is an alternative spelling for Guinevere, Arthur's wife and Lancelot's lover.

Actually, St. Genevieve was a completely different person from Guinevere, but still, it's a nice name.

Genevieve is apparently a germanic name possibly meaning "woman of the people". Supposedly St Genevieve became the patron saint of Paris, after she predicted in the 5th century that the Huns would not invade Paris. That was tough on the occupants of Orleans because the Huns attacked there instead!

Guinevere is Welsh and comes from the name Gwenhwyfar which means "white wave" or "white spirit" (as it happens I've just started writing a story with the main female protagonist being a white witch with the name Gwenhwyfar Morwen Morgan or Gwen for short -- a thoroughly Welsh name with "white" or "fair" predominating in all the components.)

As a name suggestion, how about "Melody"? She looks to be a cheerful "Melody" at the moment, but she could go from sad to tempestuous.

Don't ask me the source, but I would swear to GOD that Genevieve was used as the name of Arthur's queen in some of the tales. I am sure I could be wrong, but..... I think I may have figured out what actually inspired me to choose the name Genevieve.

That is Genevieve Bujold. I think that, subconsciously, this character reminds me of her. They do not look like twins... but there is something in the face....
