Not so much the programming as it is the planning, really.

Well, that and the art. Which would be essential for an erotic game. I mean, I could do a text based game... but I don't really wanna. Just not a fan of text based games.

Anyway, about the game this topic is about.

so this time, I decided to do something a bit different.

I think I've mentioned before that you play as April, Celina's more outgoing friend, this time. However, I've decided to change from second person to first person. So, for instance, in Celina or Christine, they opened up with "You are so and so and you are doing what and not." However, this game opens up with April giving a monologue instead, and the whole game will be told from her point of view. standard I'm looking at is for the title text to be dialogue as well as April's thoughts, and then her words and actions are in the text option at the bottom.

This is worth noting since I am nothing like April, so it'd be a unique challenge to try and write someone I'm absolutely nothing like from one of the hardest literary points of view without botching it.

Is April after men or women? One of the hardest parts of writing a female protagonist erotic game is explaining why there's a challenge. It's not particularly hard for a woman interested in sex to get it, so the gameplay and story can be difficult to write. I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.

Well, as the title of the game indicates, she is envying Celina's relationship with Luke. So while you can go up to a stranger on the street and get sex quickly (one of the minor sex scenes I mentioned earlier) it doesn't exactly get April what she wanted.

So it'll be about stealing Luke from Celina? That can work, even if it is a bit "anti-hero."

Well, it could be, or it could not be. Maybe

Well, I finished planning/ writing the first day. Altogether, it's about 100 pages, and Sy already made 25 or so. We're a bit better at reusing images than we were earlier in Inspiring celina, so hopefully he won't need to make too many. Anyway, that's all I'm doing before I'm going away till After New Years, but he says he may have time to work so I've given him plenty to catch up on... meanwhile, I need to try and keep myself from getting too crazy writing this. Fun.

Progress on this has been a bit slow as of late because Sy had some real life stuff, but it seems like he's got everything abck up and is making more pictures. I thinkhe managed to get a cloud rendering system in play so he can render things faster (from what I understand, 3D rendering takes up a lot of time) so that'd help lol

So work on this has been progressing. Currently knee deep in trying to figure out a huge conversation with six different variables and all sorts of checks and it's making my brain hurt but I'm crazy. Not as crazy as Wolf but there ya go.

Anyway, reason I'm posting is more for our next game. I know, we should probably finish this up before that, but I still have some plans and I want to ask something.

Basically, I really want to try and make something a bit more like a regular game. A Fantasy RPG (or maybe sci-fi, I dunno) with dating sim/ romance elements... and not so much a fuck fest as some are. Though the question remains on if we should try and Gerry rig AC or WBA into that or learn another game engine for that...

Anyway, thing I wanted to ask about was that Sy mentioned buying all this art stuff is expensive, and he doesn't have any fantasy stuff (and not too much sci-fi stuff) at the moment. So, while he'd like to make something more fantastical too, he doesn't have any materials to make said game. So he suggested we try a patreon or donations, so I thought I'd thought I'd throw that out here.

So basically: this game is progressing, but I am already thinking about a new game and wondered if anyone here would like a more fantasy/ RPG based game and if they would be willing to help with that. It's still inf formative stages right now since I mostly want to focus on Envying Celina, but am still thinking about it.

i am a huge fan of fantasy rpg games. If there is anything i can help with just ask. I am only terrible at coding. programming, being artsy, marketing and probaly the 1st 10 things you can think off.

There's nothing specific about the game engine that would need to change to make a fantasy RPG game. In the end, RPG stats are no different than "how happy is she?" variables.

Before we did CfK, Phreaky and I had talked about doing a fantasy RPG. I had worked out the story outline and the characters, and he had modeled them. I didn't foresee needing anything extra in AC to write it.

In the end we did CfK instead, but that was just a matter of fan preference, not anything technical.

@Skelaturi

Well, if you could help Sy get the 3d artwork he needs, that would be something you could help with lol

@tlaero

I'm already able to grasp some of the systems we'd need, it's more just that trying to visualize all of the systems working together seamlessly while also thinking of a good storyline that I actually like (like, no sexing random ladies for quests or whatever). One reason I'm asking so early is it'd give me time to think about and work on that and see if enough people are interested in it anyway.

I would have liked to see your fantasy game... do you mean it would have had battles and dungeon crawling because that's what I'm thinking of.

I kind of saw it as an RPG like a LOP game, though with more story. It definitely would have had dungeon crawling. The battles, however, would have been "do the right thing" and not, "roll a die and see if you hit." I believe that random elements should not be used in erotic games. Even Ariane's spin the bottle scene was a mistake in my opinion.

Agreed. Frustration and erotism don't combine.

Hm, fair enough. I wouldn't have made it random, more having to do math, but I could see why most people wouldn't want to do that for sexy games, especially when the sexy is a long way away. I kind of just have been wanting a game that mixes some real gameplay with dating sim/ sexual elements.

Also, in my opinion, and in my case, there might be some arousing levels sabotage if after talking to the sexy tavern Fairwood tavern busty waitress I have to fight a big green orc and get lost in an underground maze.
Fantasy RPGs are super (I am an old D&D habitué), and erotic games are also great. But I think a combination of the two is really hard to do.
As my advice, forget the whole battles systems and instead opt for an escort-the-princess-through-the-woods kind of adventure. You might devise some fun, great, and SEXY puzzles, challenges, that won't decrease the player's sexy enjoyment. Maybe they encounter sexy elves, fairies, the princess eats the wrong mushrooms and acts devious, you sneek on her bathing in a pound, you must do all kind of errands (sexy errands) to afford the luxurious room for the princess in the most luxurious tavern in town, whatever. Fantasy RPG and sex can be mixed but in the right measure.
