I respect your position but because we start to list alternative approaches I thought I jump in.
Java was and still is my favorite language so my very first game was done in Java. Then I got curious and tried Flex 4 (i.e. for the flash player) for the next one. I can understand you do not want to spend too much time in programming but into the game. Me neither so I first created a Java program that let's me compose the story and logic visually and creates a flash. That way I had fun with both - Flash and Java - and saved me quite some time doing all in Flex ;-)
